In the past, Český Krumlov was residence of many important and powerful czech aristocratic families. Mainly families of Vítkovci lords of Krumlov, Rožmberci, Eggenbergové and Schwarzenbergové were responsible for the city\\\'s growth for centuries. In the 19th century there was still a majority of German speaking residents, 3/4 to be concrete. A big change came after the second world war when German residents were killed and expelled back to Germany.
Nowadays the city is mainly known as one of the most visited places in Czech Republic! One of the reasons is it\\\'s addition to the world UNESCO heritage list in 1992.
