The European Championship is coming up

From 17th to 24th April, the European Junior, Adult and Veteran Championships will take place in Jesolo, Italy. The Czech Taekwon-Do ITF sends 41 representatives to fight for valuable metals. Sonkal traditionally has a very good representation:

- Jiri Faltin will defend two previous gold European championships among veterans in I. dan patterns and previous successful performance in sparring up to 80kg. Jirka is also a member of the veteran team. Due to the changes in the competition rules this year, our veterans will not have a team for the patterns, which has been very hard to beat in recent years, but we are confident of success in the team power breaking.

- Jiri Novak returns to the national team after several years and will be a member of both the senior team and the self-defense discipline. Furthermore, Jiri will join individual patterns III. dan, sparring over 92kg and power breaking.

- Hubert Skála will make his European debut among seniors and will try to follow up on last year's great results in juniors (1st place patterns and 2nd place sparring). Hubert will compete in the 1st dan patterns, sparring up to 78kg, special techniques, self-defence and other team events.

- Tereza Simandlová will try competing among II. dan for the first time and will follow up on last year's bronze medal in sparring up to 52kg. It will surely be a zing in the team events with other juniors!

- Ondrej Faltin will again compete in the junior I dan line-ups, where he will be looking to improve on last year's third place and also the same placing from the sparring. Ondrej will also compete in self-defense.

- Jakub Komárek is nominated for sparring up to 75kg, special techniques and he will start in the senior junior team.

There will also be a trio of Sonkal members going to Italy, who will be working behind the scenes - master Ondřej Vrábel and Alex Mach will be preparing photos and videos from the European Championships for the Czech Federation in the same scope as in previous years. Vladimír Švanda will repeat his work for the organizing country as a photographer. The competition starts on Wednesday 19 April and ends on Sunday 23 April.
