Good start to the season

On Saturday 10th February the new season of Sonkal competition started with the 1st round of the Czech Taekwon-do ITF Cup. Both rounds of the Cups offer very good opportunities for participants to test their form before the higher types of competitions, especially thanks to the system of competing against each other.

Our starting list was slightly affected by the ongoing spring break in the capital city, but still our team was the most numerous. Several of our charges tried their first start in the older age group and it was a good test for them with lots of new experiences.

Eventually 244 competitors from 22 schools entered the competition after medical corrections. The competition had a very brisk pace, although the afternoon was delayed against the schedule.

At the final announcement, 5 Sonkal members/members were awarded the trophy for the most successful individual:
- Anežka Bičíková - older junior female A
- Eva Jurčeková - adult female B
- Jiri Novak - adult male A
- Šimon Podrazil - older junior male B
- Ivan Romanov - younger junior male B

Sonkal dominated the overall school standings with 13 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals. Second place went to Silla and third to Brno.

On the first weekend of March we will participate in the Czech Open, which will again be hosted by the hall of the Řepy Sports Centre. We are looking forward to international participation and quality performances of our competitors!
