Under the banner of the association again in Prague

Probably we would have to search in very old archive materials when the last competition of the Czech Taekwon-Do ITF was held in Prague, but it is not important, because the past is the past.

On Friday, September 23rd, taekwondists from all over the Czech Republic came to the sports hall in Řepy to register and weigh in for Saturday's 2nd round of the Czech Taekwon-Do Federation Cup.

Saturday's opening ceremony included first a minute of silence in memory of the recently deceased president of our federation ing. Marek Lazor. Then followed the repeatedly postponed announcement of the winners of the association's ranking for the year 2021, where the Sonkal players and Sonkal girls came for many awards and Sonkal dominated the overall ranking of all schools!

At around 9am the first competitors took to the competition area, in the kids age group. Unfortunately, the whole day of competition was held on only three competition areas and so the competition dragged on quite a bit. For example, our debutant Patrik Švehla started in the patterns on the very first match of the competition day, but he didn't enter the sparring until after 3 p.m. :-(

Although this competition was only shortly after the start of regular training, the performances of our competitors were not bad at all! One of the few flaws was a few forgotten or messed up patterns. Definitely a very good stepping stone for the fall part of the competition season.

The biggest successes were achieved by Šárka Třísková (best adult B), Anežka Bičíková (best junior B), Martin Schwáb (best olderjunior B) and Jan Sekera (best older child). A summary of all our medal successes can be found HERE.

As we mentioned in the introduction, the competition dragged on quite a bit, as evidenced by the fact that the last matches ended a little after 8.30 p.m. and the final announcement of the most successful competitors began at 8.45 p.m. For the next time such a competition in a beautiful big hall would benefit from more rings and referees.

The next competition is the talented youth meeting in Nymburk in October. We will visit Řep again in early December for the Ataxon Open, which our school is hosting. And in March, the international competition Czech Open - Memorial of Marek Lazor will take place here!
