Talented talents

First weekend of May with its temperature and rain reminded rather March. But as Taekwondists are beings of indoor or more precisely they train their bodies inside a gym, it did not affect our performance.
The sport hall in Nymburk hosted about 160 Taekwon-Do competitors from five regional units of talented youth. In Saturday morning they were awaited to weigh themselves and register for Sunday comparison of their performances, and in the afternoon they experienced interesting program prepared by Department of children and youth. Basic sorting was to younger and older, when one group underwent the education in theory of Taekwon-Do (the topic was the theory of power) and the second one frolicking in swimming pool. After one hour and a half the groups changed their positions. The end of Saturday afternoon belonged to traditional logical game – puzzle. And for everybody succeeded the hall was prepared for Sunday competition.

After traditional ceremony, initiated by Martin Zámečník (VI. Dan) the president of Czech union of Taekwon-Do, the competition in patterns followed. Competitors of our school were very successful with only minor exceptions and one medal (mostly the golden one) was chasing another. Very gladdening was the performance and vining of junior female team in patterns – the long preparation made good use and recast to gold. The junior male team should have had a little bit different composition, but even though they strode up to the silver medals, which was very pleasant surprise for me.

Unfortunately there was no gold pinging at sparring competition, but Tereza Štekerová coped with her red belt and black belt opponents and she deservedly won. Our next competitors remained tightly below the gold – Vendy Benediktová, Franta Sakař and Lukáš Veverka.

Tereza Štekerová also succeeded in special techniques where she needed for winning only the nomination technique, which she managed absolutely with no problem. Jirka Novák managed nice battle of special techniques against Zdeněk Chaloupka Jr. and after his perfect performances at Europe Championship he confirmed his efficiency in Nymburk too. And the gold passed to him.
Both our teams jumped very well even in team special techniques and it lifted them to the highest places.

I proudly announce that we won 11 from 19 medals for our unit (20 including one excluded from overall placing).

Those 19 golden medals of our group signed evident first place in total ranking of units. At final cups handing over, Tereza Štekerová was valued by the one for the best female junior.

Congratulations and we carry on at hard work!!!
