Taekwon-do vs. Devils

On 2nd December of 2017, competition named The Devils Cup took place in Petřiny-Jih School as it has been for many years now. The cup was organised by Taekwon-do ITF Sonkal Praha. Our school was able to defend overall victory with 14 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals. 227 competitors from 17 schools competed in patterns and sparring in youth, junior and senior age categories. Because main goal of this cometition is to gain a lot af experience, system everyone against everyone was used.

Competition started rig
ht after the registration, according to plan at 10 a.m. Most full categories were as usual youth patterns, where spectators could see more than 30 competitors in one category. So every medal won should be acknowledged as big success. Cups for most successful youth competitors went to Klára Šebestová (Karviná) and to Petr Skalický (GBHS), both earned two gold medals.

In junior age category, experienced Jan Veškrna (Sonkal) starred, when he showed great performance in both patterns and sparring and was awarded with cup for most successful junior male. In girls, Veronika Rožboudová (Třeboň) earned the cup.

Who wanted to see great fighs, he could wait for senior categories. Very interesting fights were those of Tomáš Vodička (Sonkal) and Lukáš Frič (Tong-il). Although they are busy working and studying, they showed their long collected experience and nice techniques. Tomáš Vodička earned the cup for most successful senior male. Best senior female was Veronika Žilinká (Sonkal).

I need to say, to win cup for best competitor on this competition was not easy. All winning competitors had two gold medals and the victory was decided by number of winned matches.

The awarding ceremony took place few minutes after 5 p.m instead of 8 p.m. as planned. So big thanks to all participants, referees and managers of this competition for smooth run.
