Sonkal at the European Championship in sunny Italy

On 28 April the Czech representatives had a meeting at 4:00 at the airport Vaclav Havel. Upon arrival we went to register and weigh. We all went into weight categories and we continue to hotel. After a long hunger we could have something to eat. In the evening we had a training, which was not hard.
The next day we had two trainings and in the afternoon we went through the sights of the city. In the evening was a ceremony.

On 30. April (thursday) the European Championship began. First came a series of patterns. In this discipline Jiří Novák won a silver medal and Tomáš Vodička won a bronze medal. Team of seniors male and juniors male was awarded the 1st place. Team of juniors female won a bronze medal.

On Friday was juniors matsogi (sparring). Jiří Novák fought very well in the final with Russian. So Jiří Novák won gold. Tereza Štekerová also won gold in her weight category.

On Saturday was sparring of seniors and junior teams. Jana Kovářová in her weight category won bronze. Tomáš Vodička had very good and had a close match Russian competitor, but Tomáš lost. And Russian competitor won all category.

On Sunday our senior team female fought in team sparring. Last year they won this category, but this very long and close match our girls unfortunately lost with girls from Ukraine. And our senior team male lost with Ukraine unfortunately too.
In special techniques Tereza Štekerová won a gold medal and Jiří Novák was fourth. Senior team male won a gold medal and junior team male won a silver medal.
The last event was wirok (power breaking) where only senior team
female was nominated and won a gold medal.

Then followed the announcement of the most successful teams, where seniors male team and seniors female team won the cup for the third place for the best senior teams in this competitions. And Our senior male team won the cup for the most successful team.

In the evening all the older juniors and seniors went to the afterparty. Younger juniors went for ice cream and real Italian pizza.

Monday was a free day off. In the morning we all went by train to the nearby town of Barletta. It was nice weather, so we took the opportunity to freshen up in the sea. We looked at the city\\\'s historic center. The afternoon was free. Someone went to pizza, someone to the store to buy some souvenirs, which in Italy are not right.

On Tuesday we left at 8:20 back to Prague.
The European championship, we really liked, it was a great experience for us and have got a lot of experiences.
