25.3.2025 / Preparation seminar before European ChampionshipPreparation for the European Championships in full swing
This year's preparation for the European Championships in Tallinn is very different from previous years, but it is even more varied. At the same time, it shows the interest and commitment of the individuals to the team and national coaches. Another part of the preparation were two preparatory seminars under the guidance of the head coach of the repetition Jan Mracek (VI. dan) and the junior coach Ales Vyzral (V. dan).
The training sessions took place at the GBHS training centre in Beztahovo on Saturday 22 March. Both blocks were attended by over 60 male and female taekwondo players from a number of clubs. The age spectrum was made up of students to very experienced veteran men and women. And because the event was open to regular members, it was not just about preparing for the upcoming European Championships, but also about the desire to improve their skills and get a taste of representative training.
The morning session, after warming up and stretching, focused first on practicing patterns, special techniques and power breaking. The second part was marked by sports combat. Outside, the beautiful spring weather peeked into the hall through the open doors and infused energy into the veins of all participants. It was no wonder that everyone ended the morning block properly sweaty, but also satisfied thanks to the intense workout.
The midday energy replenishment took place on the greening grassy areas of the training centre and after a long winter it was the right relaxation before the afternoon session.
The second part was also divided into two smaller blocks. Firstly, the core groups were forming the team patterns. Whoever is not participating in the European Championships or did not have a team here, had the space for individual practice.
The final block was again focused on sparring, or firstly drills, where a lot of emphasis was put on exercises under pressure - changing fresh opponents or simulating the end of a match and losing by a few points. There was also a model situation of fighting in the corner of the wrestling ground. The very end was provided by the conditioning part and stretching.
The nominees will now face two national camps during April as well as other events organized by the clubs. Let's keep our fingers crossed for our team both in preparation and at the European Championships in Tallinn at the end of April and the beginning of May.
