6.12.2010 / Special training for higher belts - ground fight

Photo serie

We met on frozen Saturday December, 4 in Černý Most, where Svíťa (Martin Svitek) organized training focused on integrating moves from greco-roman wrestling and ground fighting to our skills.

Goal was to introduce techniques for close distance and ground, so different situations than normally taught in taekwondo trainings.

Warm-up was enriched by falls, rolls, handstands and few variations that prepared our bodies and tuned our minds for fun on mats. F

irst drills were focused on throwing opponent and fixing him on ground and of course on protection against these moves. Feeling the intensity of throws of Martin Procházka and Tomáš Vodička I was sure that boys are happy to see me again. Explanation and training of various grabs, locks, holds and chokes followed.

We practiced role both of attacker and defender, than in free sparring tried to valorize what we learned. I really enjoyed atmosphere where everyone train hard with good mood, but still thinking about what are we doing or what Svíťa explains. I want to thank him for chance to take part in such training and for his well-organized and open-minded approach.

Not even cruel winter weather could beat good feeling of well-spent afternoon, as I allow myself to say for every attendee.

Egon Zelinka (Called Gecko, Martin´s long year companion not only in training).
