27.6.2017 / Black belts examinationsOne, two, two
It´s not grades of school report even though most of school pupils would take them with by fistfuls. But they are given technical degrees DAN, black belts, if you please. At the end of international seminar trio of Sonkal people – Adam Pastorek, Lukáš Veverka, Tereza Štekerová – stepped before committee
of Czech Taekwon-Do Federation (Grandmaster Hwang Ho Yong, Master Rostislav Kaňka, Master Martin Zámečník and Sabom Milan Prokeš) accompanied by Master Wayne Brown (Great Britain) and Master Chris Eickenhorst (Netherland).
All three of them successively showed of which quality is their preparation for testing. Deservedly they gained the degrees which they were asking for. It means Adam 1st Dan, Lukáš Veverka and Tereza Štekerová 2nd Dan.
Unlike previous testing I must grade the quality of tested applicant as quite higher. Still, in some cases, preparation of higher quality or longer would not be amiss at all. Unfortunately the biggest problem was the lack of number of power-breaking boards. Especially the candidates for 2nd degree and higher were deprived of the standard number of techniques.
For long time I have been convinced that current testing system would deserve solid revision, meaning the test should be real test in all ways. We must admit that testing of 10-15 people 15-20 years ago is long gone. Also, unlike previous years, strongly more and more Taekwon-Do people are tested for higher degrees.
