On the victory wave in Ostrava

The second weekend of October this year belonged to the second meeting of young taekwondists. After the spring round in Nymburk, we headed to Ostrava.
Our center for talented youth tried a different type of transport for this event and instead of the usual traveling by bus, we saddled up the "iron horse" this time.

The Saturday morning meeting was suffering for most of us, but soon, in classic words, benefits and social security prevailed. The oldest went to the children's corner and the others took up reading or other social activities.

The train arrived to Ostrava Bonver arena on time and after the necessary registration and filling up of our stomachs, the department of children and youth prepared a joint activities in the form of a competition in exhibition performances. All STM guys were divided into several teams, where they prepared a demonstration for the competition. For most, it was the first exhibition in their life however, for sure, they will join more exhibitions soon. On the other hand, it was easy to recognize who had already participated in quite a few demonstrations. The Saturday program got to the end and after a quick dinner in the sports hall, all of us went into the Park Inn hotel, where we laid our bodies to rest for the night.

Sunday early wake-up call was rewarded with a high quality hotel breakfast and the short distance walk was a pleasant warmup for our muscles before the upcoming competition.

The competition began after half past eight by the ceremonial line up of 162 participants from five centers of talented youth.

Our very successful performance (both Prague II center and Sonkal) was started by both of our teams competing in patterns, where they confidently reached for the gold medals. Other precious metals quickly accumulated a final score stopped at 15 of the total 22 gold medals won by our center.

During the final announcement of the most successful STM centers, Prague II was announced as the most successful in the second meeting, as well as in year-round balance with spring round included. Tereza Štekerová took from Ostrava the cup for the most successful junior.

Next was the lightning move to the train station and the convenient transfer to the golden city, Prague.

The second meeting confirmed that young talents in Sonkal are doing well and are represented equally in the gym at Černý Most and Petřiny. Newcomers from recruiting groups can in a short time compete with their more experienced colleagues and compare their levels in the beautiful martial art, which taekwondo undoubtedly is. Come to a training at primary school Vybíralova, Praha 9 or Petřiny south in Šantrochova street!
