New format for inter-division competitions

On Thursday, September 25, representatives from Sonkal, Dan-Gun, and GBHS gathered in the gym of Vybíralova Elementary School in Černý Most. The goal was to try out a new format of smaller, time-efficient inter-club competitions. Although the main prize was Fidork medals, this did not diminish the enthusiasm and desire to be better than the opponents. The competition was designed for mixed teams of boys and girls regardless of age and technical level. It was not unusual for a senior female with a third dan and a youth male with a sixth kup to be on the same team. During the hour-long competition, 11 teams competed in their chosen pattern, and in the end, it didn't matter who won because everyone gained a lot of experience. For some of the more experienced competitors, it was their first experience with a team lineup and leading others. Which is a whole different experience and very nerve-wracking when two other team members are relying on you. And on top of that, a crowd of parents is watching you from a few meters away!

Everyone did a great job, and based on this positive experience (and lots of praise), we will continue with these competitions. We will publish the dates for the next competitions in the fall!
