15.4.2022 / Online international technical seminar with GM Hwang Ho-yong

From Řepy to the other side of the world

The title of the article sounds far-fetched, but it is true. On the weekend of April 9th and 10th, the large hall of the sports centre in Prague Řepi became the starting point of an international online technical seminar with Grandmaster Hwang Ho-yong. And the other side of the world? It had several outcomes - Japan, China, Malaysia, India, South Africa, UK, Grenada, USA.... And so we could go on :-)

However, the important thing was the content, which was provided by Grandmaster Hwang Ho-yong and I, together with Master Martin Zamecnik, had the honour of assisting him and translating. Sonkal also arranged two preceptors - Jiri Novak (III. dan) and Vladimir Svanda (V. dan).

The three training blocks offered an explanation of the basic theory of Taekwon-do, a very detailed look at the basic movements, all 24 routines and all types of sparring (fighting system).

Not only the large number of participants is pleasing, but also many masters and grandmasters - Wayne Brown (England), Rajendran Balan (India) and Chin-Huat Yeo (Sweden).

Nine hours of training finally passed like water and we are again a little closer to understanding the vast repertoire of taekwondo. I personally will be looking forward to the next online international seminar in just a few weeks - April 30 and May 1. This time it will be more about talking in suits, as we have an instructor course on the agenda. We will have Tereza Simandlová (I. dan) and Ondrej Faltin (I. dan) in the practical part, which will focus on conducting the training, the sparring system and other important parts.


And I must not forget the very end of the seminar, which was the examination for VII. dan of Zbyněk Mácha, the head of the Třeboň school. Zbynek is one of the longest practicing taekwondo practitioners in the Czech Republic and deservedly won the title of Taekwon-Do Master. On behalf of the whole Sonkal I congratulate and thank Zbyněk again for the joint preparation for V. dan. It was super fun and our exams were great! So from now on only Sahyonim Zbynek Macha ;-)
