Both Czech national champions juniors female are from Sonkal

From Friday (30th October) to Sunday (2nd November) Czech National Championship took place in south bohemia town – Třeboň. For the first time in history, all cathegories (kids, juniors, seniors) had competed during only one weekend. This change meant that 454 competitors from 24 taekwon-do schools have participated here – it´s the largest competitors number in history. Our taekwon-do school couldn´t miss at this event, so 26 competitors who formed 4 teams (female kids, male and female juniors and male seniors). Mainly in team patterns we expected some successes because of hard preparation for this category.

Despite of enourmous number of competitors Třeboň´s sport hall was prepared very well – 4 rings for sparring and patterns and one for each power breaking and special techniques. To smoother ru

n of whole competition of course help electronic pointing system for sparring on ring no.2. This system is provided by our trainer Ondřej Vrábel.

Three the most successful clubs of Czech Republic national tournament serie

Competition as usual started with patterns. Female kids Lucie Slavětínská (8.-7. kup) and Ivana Hřebačková (4.kup and above) both got gold medal after defeating all their opponents without problems. Next first places were gotten in juniors by Pavel Zavadil (I.Dan and above), Lucie Kolmanová (4.-3. kup) and Radka Koldinská (8.-7.kup). Next medal positions got Dominika Bardonová (3. place female kids 4. kup and above), Lukáš Topol (3. place male kids 6.-5. kup), Barbora Sýkorová (2. place female juniors 2. kup and above), Milan Fulmek (3. place male juniors 4.-3. kup), Filip Janků (male juniors 6.-5. kup), Pavel Bareš (male seniors II. Dan and above) and Hoang Huy (male seniors I. dan). After individual competition, kid teams had continued. Juniors and seniors team patterns were on Sunday program. We were curious how well are our girls going to do without their skillful and experienced captain Linda Deutschová, who broke her finger just few days before the tournament, so she wasn´t able to start here. Our girls passed first rounds with confidence and continued to final to defeat their rivals with their perfect choreography – their faultless performing of fast combination techniques was awfull :o) They got gold as we have expected. Our male juniors lost in final after nice practicing, so their silver medal is something that we are proud of. Male seniors team has changed a bit comparing with last year and took gold medal (last year - silver). Female juniors unfortunately lost in first round.

We did well in sparring too – proofs of this fact are gold medals of Dominika Bardonová (female kids up to 38 kg), Barbora Sýkorová (female juniors A up to 53 kg) and suprising gold for Petr Legner (male juniors B 70 kg and above). We are proud of second and third places too – Lucie Kolmanová (2. place female juniors B up to 53 kg), Pavel Zavadil (3. place male juniors A up to 58 kg), Martin Hlůže (3. place male juniors A up to 70 kg), Lukáš Legner (3. place male juniors B up to 70 kg), Ivana Hřebačková (3. place female kids up to 50 kg), Slávek Vinogradov (3. place male seniors 80 kg and above) and Hoang Huy (3. place male seniors A up to 71 kg), who fought with bravery with opponents about 15 kg heavier.

In special techniques Barbora Sýkorová despite of her illness got 1st place. Lucie Kolmanová, who is one of the best in female juniors B took after hard fight “only” 2. place. Between female kids Dominika Bardonová got bronze medal (but only one point took her away from silver one). Female kids team took 3. place despite of big changes in it. And Slávek Vinogradov got bronze in male seniors B.

In last discipline – power breaking, fatigue and illnesses of our competitors did its part of work, so we got only nice bronze from male juniors team competition.

Czech republic national champions 2003 in juniors female - Barbora (Lála) Sýkorová and Lucie Kolmanová (both Sonkal)

During ending ceremony Official Czech national champions were declared. Sonkal has its own champions here – after year 2001 (Linda Deutschová and Pavel Zavadil) and 2002 (Linda Deutschová and Tomáš Bobek) titles for Czech national champions 2003 got Lucie Kolmanová (female juniors B category) and Barbora Sýkorová (female juniors A category). It´s third time in a row when our competitors were able to got national champions titles.
In the end, the most successful school in Czech national championship events was declared. Last year we were on 5th position and to get higher looked like impossible target, what a big mistake. This year Sonkal end on a 2nd position.
