Bohemia Championship was held in new scheme of competition

I was assigned to write article about Bohemian championship, so I closely watch everything happenning there.
We left Prague on Saturday morning with Svíťa, brother (René Čapek) and Jirka Huml to reach Nymburk at 9:30 A.M. meeting rest of Sonkal. After registration and weig

hing we have enough time for preparations of different kind, because championship opening was scheduled to 1:30 P.M.. Our sights were stuck to supertall basketball players from Nymburk together with some US players. They went for training so we went for second breakfast. I did not order lunch so I was heavily food-supported from home. Svíťa and Jirka Huml took advantage of knowing this and ate part of my stockpile.
I got to know before event started that this time scheme will be different. We competed only in patterns and sparring, but if there were up to 6 competitors everyone fought everyone, it there were more people they were divided to 2 groups and winners of these groups fought for gold and second from groups fought for bronze (so only one bronze medal this time, not two like normally). This is big advantage, because sometimes you don´t have your day or just fight with future winner of category in first round and your competing is finished after one pattern, here you really show your skills. Disadvantage is of course time and physical strenght and condition needed to be able to pass this. But it is worth of experiences.
Start of competition was a bit dalayed, so it started at 2 P.M., Ondra took the mic and wished us luck and well-spent competition. International instructor for Czech republic, grandmaster Hwang Ho Yong, IX. Dan also came to watch us.
We began with patterns in order - kids, juniors, seniors. Sonkal students did well, because I saw five flags pointing to our competitor for many times and most of us got some kind of medal. Me and few others that did not reach medal places still enjoyed it, because it is good motivation to watch all these skilled competitors.
Everything was a bit harder for Tomáš Vodička, Kristýna Hudková, Jirka Huml and brother (Renek). They were changing role of referee and competitor so they changed from suit to dobok and back again.
Eventhough competition started a bit late, it ended as was planned - round 7 P.M., we helped organisers to pack tatami, some of us went for dinner and then we drove back home.
We again took title for the most succesful school of championship with 11 gold, three silver and one bronze medal. So we got nice cup that will be stored with other trophies our school got in the past. National team mebers from Sonkal - Kristýna Hudková and Jirka Huml got title for the most succesful junior A competitors.
I believe that we will do as well also on Czech Open, where also competitors from abroad will take part.
