Big sussess of Czech National team

On Thursday´s evening (27th of February) Czech national team left to Dortmund in Germany to took part in
8th German Open. Four members of Sonkal left too, because their national team membership. Sonkal competitors were always succesful in Germany – Hoang Quang (Pepa) Huy won his weight cathegory up to 54 kg two times and he wanted to repeat his succes this year too. During this two days championship taekwondoists from Germany, Netherland, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Russia and Czech Republic (national team and Taekwon-do Club Brno) competed.



Friday´s
evening belonged to weight tests nad registration. Everybody had weight in order, only Tomáš Bobek needed to increase his weight, in order to compete in +80 kg cathegory (his normal weight is 68-69kg – few bottles of water in his pockets helped us! :-) ).

Saturday is on German open competiton for coloured belts, which are splited to 2 groups for both matsogi and tul. Cathegories are yellow-green and blue-red belts. All of Sonkal competitors took part in black belts cathegory on Sunday. During Saturday most of national adepts competed and they pretty flourished – juniors 4.-1. kup got all 4 medal posts. Black belts tournament on Sunday is very prestigeous and especially sparring is very interesting spectacle.
Our Linda Deutschová and Bára Sýkorová both got bronze medal in female junior patterns I.Dan as Hoang Huy in male senior cathegory. Next bronze medal was added by Hoang Huy and Tomáš Bobek in team patterns (together with Michal Košátko from Frýdek-Místek).

Ending of lunch break was like „Huy´s show“ were Hoang Huy shew lot of turning kicks, backflips. Other gymnastics and his favourite wall-running á la Matrix. Of course great applause followed

In female juniors sparring up to 53 kg Linda Deutschová defeated her colleague from national team Kristýna Rybová and got gold. Bára Sýkorová, according to German open rules, fought both her opponents in her cathegory and defeating Ilona Hambergerová (national team, Hwa-Rang Prague) and loosing with german competitor won second place. Hoang Huy had only two opponents too and after faultless fights he got his third gold medal in row for sparring on German Open. Tomáš in the highest cathegory (+80 kg) got silver medal (defeating two opponents), regarding of his weight (69kg !!!!) and fact that it was his first start in this weight cathegory, we may really appreciate his success without doubt. Tomáš and Huy added bronze in team sparring.

Linda and Bára spent part of Saturday preparing for their team patterns practicing, but unfotunately after all there weren´t another team to compare with our girls.

Our competitors were in this part of preparation for European championship succesful and now they continue preparing at first national team long term training camp.
