Another year of Sonkal Open competition is coming really fast! After the deadline of registration the statistic tells us that the number of contestants is 270 from 23 schools of the Czech Republic, Croatia and Russia! Unlike previous years we are missing traditional attendants from Slova
kia.

This year the competitors, coaches and referees are facing some innovations. Contestants are divided into age subcategories in patterns and in sparring as well. There will be separate fights for younger and older pupils, younger and older juniors and for seniors. That applies to the gentle half of taekwondo field. Medallists of all categories are about to gain valuable metals that are prepared specially for this competition. We believe that everybody is going to like them and be rightfully proud of them. Medals have also very nice and stylish girdles! The most successful individuals are awaited by goblets and gift vouchers to Hayashi store, one of our sponsors.

There is one very practical change for competitors – all of the referees´ decisions will be made on tablets. There will be no flags in the hands of referees and the results will be signalized on screens! It will practically contribute to umpires or the jury at the rings for there will be no necessity to write the results and assess them complicatedly. Everything will be in digital world on the background. Mentioned changes are the result of our long-time cooperation with Jakub Geyer from school Tong-Il from České Budějovice. He still develops and improves the system of electronic scoring. Not only us but also whole Czech Taekwon-Do Federation use this system. Recently it was tested by taekwondists from Slovakian alliance. If everything is going the way we want during Sonkal Open we shall test assigning categories to specific rings, the overview on screens and then the collection of results. 21st century and modern technology cling to such traditions as marital arts, especially Taekwon-Do!

Sonkal Open 2018 is organized with financial support of Municipality of Prague and also Czech Taekwon-Do Federation. Our federation also provides material and technical equipment which we thank very much for. Personal thanks belong to general secretary of federation ing. Sonkal Open 2018 begins with Saturday registration at 8:00 and competitions start at 10:00 with pattern contest of male and female pupils! Please, visit the sports hall of Primary school of Petřiny jih in Šntrochova Street!
