21.10.2021 / National testing members of CYTFor a second time in Ostrava
This autumn has been marked by trips to Ostrava. First at the beginning of October for the Czech Championship of colour bands and now for the national meeting of talented youth. In both cases our home was the athletic hall of Ostravar Arena, which offers plenty of space.
Sonkal sent 16 competitors as part of the joint nomination of STM Praha II, who performed very well throughout the competition. The main drivers of our team were Karolína Chmelíková and Jan Veškrna, recent members of the Czech national team. Honza won three individual gold medals and Karolína won one gold and one bronze medal. Viktoria Markova's victory in the patterns was a surprise, beating the favourite Lea Rathouska in the final.
In total, our Talented Youth Centre won 35 gold medals and we dominated the overall standings.
The downside of the whole weekend was the spread of both competition days, the main reason being the absence of more judges. After all, finishing 2-3 hours earlier on Sunday would have been welcomed by more than one cross-country competitor. It would not be out of place to think about the format of the competition and find a more time-appropriate model.
Not only sonkalers and sonkalers are now waiting for the European Championships in Crete, the autumn training camp, the seminar with the Master Jerzy Jedut and just after mid-November the Czech Republic Championships.
