Winning at our neighbours

On Friday April 26th at about 2 p.m. Sonkal team left for Slovakia where the Nitra Cup competition took place on Saturday April 27th. Sixteen members of Sonakl took part to represent our school. We went by two cars and one van
. Not far away from boundary we met a traffic jam caused by a burning car on the D2 highway. Except that, there were no troubles on the road.

We arrived at our final destination around 7:30 p.m. and right away we went to weigh ourselves. No one had trouble to fit his or her weight category. After that we went for dinner to McDonald in nearby mall. It is our tradition of competition to dine in McDonald and it can´t hurt you if it is not too often. When we replenished our lost calories we went back to the hotel where we accommodated ourselves. After short briefing regarding the competition we returned to our rooms to have a good sleep for another day. I guess it worked.

On Saturday the contest began with the groups of pupils followed by juniors. I had the honor to be the central referee during the juniors´ sparring. Jan Veškrna nad Ondřej Faltin, they both fought in this group with many others Czech and foreign representatives. All of the boys were fighting with vigour and did a great job. I believe that mostly the results were really close. During sparring each fighter fought each other so everybody underwent a lot of matches. I truly wonder where these youths take their energy for they were really fast and their spinning kicks even during the last rounds were still almost lethal.

All of Sonkal-mates showed amazing performances and each took some of the valuable metals. Two of Sonkal people who are also members of Czech National Team dominated the contest. Tereza Štekerová won in total 4 golden medals and a cup as the best senior female. Honza Veškrna left with a cup of the best junior male.

Thanks to great effort of all our participants Sonkal gained the first prize as the most successful school of the tournament. The second place took Czech National Team and the third place belonged to TKD Academy Slovakia.

Such a great success could not be left behind and unrewarded so we stopped at the KFC near Brno on the way back home. There we had dinner and an ice-cream as a dessert which was on the school expenses. After that we just drove home where we arrived after midnight.

I´d like to congratulate to all of Sonkal-mates for their excellent performances and I look forward to another competition.
