Way for the 2nd best school trophy at Czech Republic Championship 2012

Dear visitors of this webpage, if you read this article in order to find out which of our competitors won some medals, I have to disappoint you. I am not writing a phonebook here. Firstly, I don´t know who won which medal and secondly, it would be boring to read. So I decided to write this article as my reflection on this competition.
Most of our competitors went to Nymburk together with instructors on Friday afternoon because of registration. Me and some other umpires from Sonkal thought that there should be veteran competition in the evening. I was looking forward to this evening because I would umpire for about 2 hours and that I would enjoy it. On the other hand, the idea of sitting next to the ring for whole Saturday was freaking me out. Finally there was no competition in the evening but instead of this me and some other guys got a great task – to install new scoring software on tablets and notebooks. When we finished the job at nine we had no other option than to head to local bar for a beer. Very happy atmosphere welcomed us here – there was one guy from Velešín playing an accordion and singers not just from Třeboň TKD School. Sooner or later all of us went to bed after chatting with friends there.

Waking up early on Saturday morning was probably pleasant for no one, especially for some university students. Eventually all of us had to get up; we had a breakfast and after umpire briefing the competition started. Umpiring is no easy; after several hours I was not able to even remember the performance of our juniors who asked me what they had done badly. It is obvious that events such as lunch break were more than welcome. During the afternoon there was sparring competition and between boring matches of child and junior sparring B there was sometimes an interesting match. We had also one funny match of twin sisters who were laughing several times during the sparring. When the competition was over, I felt relieved and hot shower felt like heaven. Some of us went to the bar again but we left quite early because we were tired. On the way to our room me and Michal heard ironic comment that we are late to bed. Before sleep we solved things like why Polish go shopping to Prague while Czech go shopping to Poland – if Czech crossed out Polish out of the chain and went shopping to Prague, it would be better...

On Sunday we slept half an hour more, then we had breakfast, school lineup and competition began. The individual competition went badly for me but my mood rose up during team competition. We reached for gold medal in team patterns, partially by our effort, partially by good luck because Brno team was not able to perform in full strength and they practised with alternate member. Second opponent didn´t have choreography so we had a big advantage. The finale of the competition was team sparring for me. We showed our best here by support of our team spirit. We defeated our first opponent with score 6:0. In the final match with Brno with loud support of both team fans we finally won 7:5. Between the matches our two jumpers Tomáš and Ondra won silver medal for jumping techniques. All that was left after team sparring was team breaking techniques. We did badly there and fortunately we got bronze medal for it. We went our way on winners´ podium from the third place to first place and four medals for our senior team were the best reward for training hard.

I would like to thank to our instructors who are trying to improve our skills in every training. I hope they liked our performance and that the cup for 2nd best TKD school is a appreciation for their efforts.
