Sonkal members did very well !

Czech national team has returned from European Championship (held in Košice) this evening.
In spite of fact that organizers had only 2 months for the preparation, whole championship
went well.

Linda Deutschová and Bárbora S

ýkorová, members of female junior team, took part in friday´s patterns matches. Patterns shown by our female junior team were excellent and it was their right to get gold medal. Tomáš Bobek after a silver medal from last year´s European Chamionship 2002 (Třeboň, Czech Republic) has brought gold one from male senior team patterns. End of the first day belonged to t-ki (special techniques) juniors male and female cathegory.
Our World t-ki champion from last year, Bára Sýkorová practiced (jumped!) from our view faultlessly, but referees gave her only 2 points (of 3) for dollyo chagi and unfortunately it moved her to fights for 2nd and 3rd place, where she achieved 2nd place without problems.

Second day belonged to sparring, both juniors and seniors. All of our 4 members fought in this cathegory – Linda Deutschová in female junior sparring up to 48 kg, Bára Sýkorová in female junior sparring up to 60 kg, Hoang Huy in male senior sparring up to 54 kg and Tomáš Bobek in male senior sparring 80kg and above. Linda got 3rd place and Bára second. Tomáš fought great battles in the highest senior weight cathegory (but he is about 70 kg only!!!) and a brozne medal belongs him in equity. Hoang Pepa Huy desired to finally win medal from a European Championship, but unfortunately his eyebrow got torn during first match. National team´s doctor MUDr. Milan Svoboda did fast dressing and Hoang Huy was able to finish the match as a winner. Before semi-final match, the doctor sewed his eyebrow and Hoang defeated the next opponent – from France now. But regarding his wound, his final opponent won without fight. Great silver medal belongs to Hoang Quang Huy.

Female junior team has added 2nd place in special techniques and 3rd places in sparring and power breaking (Linda and Bára). Tomáš wasn´t able to help senior male team because of his injured leg, but his colleagues practiced great and as they only team were able to achieve the highest score in special techniques (15 points).

The participation of Czech national team was very succesful:

  • Title for the most succesful country of the Junior European championship (8 gold, 8 silver, 9 bronze)

  • Title for the most succesful country of the Senior European championship (14-3-6)

  • Title for the most succesful country of the European championship (22-11-15)

  • The most succesful team – male seniors Czech Republic

  • The most succesful team – female seniors Czech Republic

  • The most succesful team – female juniors Czech Republic
