Jirka Huml and his first World´s....

So my first World championship is over. It took place in Talin, Estonia this year. Talin is nice seaside city, full of monuments. We stayed in Dzingel hotel with pretty garden with two alcoves and other decorations. The hall was distant from our hotel so
we travelled by bus provided by organizers. After first day we know that it is better to come early for the bus, to have place to sit. Hall was nice, but pretty small, at least there were one heightened ring (I saw this for the first time in my life).

I was chosen by national team coaches as individual competitor for I. Dan patterns. I had my first duel on ring no. 1 (the one heightened) with taekwondoist from Kyrgyzstan. I was nervous, but did in my opinion best patterns I´ve ever done (Ge-baek and Hwa-rang). Unfortunately I lost 2:3, but still am happy with my performance. In opinion of many I did better than my opponent, but referees point of view always differs and as 3 of them were asian, Kyrgyzs´s style was more of their taste. So I have to try harder and look forward to next chance.

I was also individual competitor for sparring up to 75kg. I fought Ukranian fighter in first round, was also nervous eventhought I was well trained and sparred a lot during national team camps. Unfortunately as on Euro I wasn´t able to keep my style and calm mind. My agressive attacks were easily defended and I got hard punch to the neck during first round. I got nausea, my breathing was disturbed what led to stiff legs during end of first and whole second round. I tried to control myself, started to listen to my coach and did more various and harder to read combinations what led to few points for me, but it was to late. Again, I lost in the first bout. I have to focus on self-control and more clever way of fighting in future.

We fought Belarus in team sparring. Two of my mates lost their bouts at the beginning, then I was chosen. I was trying to learn from my individual competition mistakes, but again I got really nervous. Fortunately my team mate, Honza Radina, repeated me what to do so I focused on what my coach says and coutner-attacked this a bit smaller, but really fast opponent. My sidesteps worked perfect, so I won my first fight on Worlds. We also won next fight so score was 4:4. Unfortunately final match went better for Belarussian.

Team patterns weren´t so great as on Euro and we lost in second round with Koreans.

Team special techniques were something different. Unfortunately I did not reached height of my technique (but had skill for it...). We had enought points to got to final with Tajikistan. Final jump was nopi chagi, but our mate did not got it because of injury. Sad. But still we got silver from World Championship 2012!!!

Both opening and closing ceremony were nice. Closing of Championship was composed by some final matches, action scenes and some shows. One of them - Fireshow - was so "cool" that it put fire alarms on, so we had to be evacuated and got our medals during ceremony on parking lot :o)
I really enjoyed this championship, because of opportunity to travel to new country and to got new experiences. And one nice person was waiting for me back home :o)
