23.10.2014 / Sparring seminar with Hwang Su-il

Hwang Su-Il and Budoshow

It was Sunday mornig date 19 of October 2014, when we made our journey to Brno where annual Budoshow took place. The main leader of this Budoshow was Libor Macháň V. Dan, a member of Czech federation of Taekwon-Do ITF who invited a legend of Taekwon-Do ITF Hwang Su-Il VI. Dan
as the main guest of Budoshow. I had the honor to figure out, why he is so famous and respected among all of members of Taekwon-Do ITF. It was because of a seminar that took place in the Sunday morning before the Budoshow and this seminar was led by Hwang Su-Il.

At first sight he was a pleasant small sized fellow, who, despite his age is about 44 years, still looks like 25 years old guy. Even according to his motion we can say so. The seminar was focused to a motion for sparring, in which Hwang Su-Il is really excellent. That´s why he´s a multiple champion of the world. After warming up he started to teach us how to bounce on our toes and how to move using both feet together. His sample was absolutely amazing and everything looked very simple. But when I tried to do it the same way, the opposite was true. I was not surprised I was unable to manage it and that I looked rather like a teenager who came to his first dancing class. But I was much more surprised when I saw our more experienced and skilled trainees, that had almost the same trouble with that movement as I did. It was obvious that it was something new for all of us that nobody had any experience with.

I was also amazed as I saw Hwang Su-Il moving when we trained techniques for sparring wearing full guards. I was really fascinated by his lightness and agility of his techniques that if I did not see that I would not believe that is possible.

I really enjoyed whole seminar and I hope it will help me in my next practising and that I´ll improve my skills.

I can say the experience with Hwang Su-Il was very magnificent.

Something little about Budoshow

The Budoshow took place on Sunday afternoon, started at 3:00 p.m. and took three hours so the end of it was right at 6:00 p.m. For it was my first visit of Budoshow I enjoy it very much, although some parts of it left different impression on me than others. I was looking forward to seeing Free style Karate exhibition, which was the first of all of them. I liked that performance. There were just two people but their coordination was good. But it was not pretty long so and there was missing an action.

Another performed martial art was Judo. Their exhibition impressed me most of all. They showed very live, action and attractive performance. Second very interesting spectacle was a match between two martial styles namely Thai box and Kyokushin Karate. Also must be praised the performance of Taekwon-Do ITF where took a part Hwang Su-Il. Very interesting was show of fight of Samurais in armor as well. Next martial art was shown Kung-Fu. By this show I liked the exhibition with weapons, but the rest of that not too much. Even Musado left me unexcited. My biggest disappointment was the show of Aikido, because I saw many of them and they were always awesome. But today this group of performance was probably not too experienced so their show looked rather like stretching in a park.

But the entire Budoshow seemed nice and attractive.
