How we practiced fighting and then running away

Last year´s inspiration (when for the first time I was able to run 10 kms without my back dying) brought me idea, that we may deepen our friendship with other taekwondoists not
only by meeting on sparring seminars kicking our heads, but maybe through hard run. So I registred to 10km night run through Prague and invited other taekwondo friends, that often visisits my sparring seminars. After all (registration mail was to long for some of us...) there were 5 of us.
Saturday morning...more parts of my body are in pain than without it, but someone says you should go to the grave shattered. We had sparring seminar for two hours in the afternoon, this time focused on sport sparring, how to move, relax and change strategy. I was happy to see more Sonkal members than visitors from other school, summer grading went well for our school. We took some beer and something small to eat and met at 7 P.M. at Old town square (where all runs started). I was a bit late as always, so I was coming in time when Women 5km run was finishing. Right in time where these skinny, bony runners were past the finish line and girl (and women and grandmas..) still running were in shape by sporting not to much, but enough. Nice to watch...all the monuments at Old town square of course :o)
Our run started at half past eight. More than 6000 runners, so it took a while until we really started to run, and weaving in and out was hard task - not to hit fence, not to kick yourself and still keep fast pace.
Some of us run before the race, some did not, but all of us did hard and showed perseverance.
Real times were:
Hobbit from Giant Mountains Honza Dvořáček 53:50 (I had same time thanks to Honza and my indomitable ego, I ran like his shadow)
Pavel Šnábl 54:09 (ran with Aleš and cowardly ran away while on last kilometer - to be sincere I think he really drowned out his strenghts - good will, Pavel )
Aleš Novák 55:31
Štěpán Procházka 1:00:04 (but you really had to walk at the beggining, so this is under one hour so still good result, and he was the only one from us to run "alone")

We took some beers and food afterwards (in third pub we were looking for ...we weren´t able to find one in center of Prague - expression of hard fatigue probably!)and then limped back home.

My legs are sore now, but I feel that it was nice evening and maybe it will become our tradition...we´ll see next year.

PS: Thank to our athletic trainer Radek Kolář for he did everything we asked him to and needed.

Martin Svitek.
