Great Nitra robbery

Just one day after grading, some of our competitors travelled to Nitra, Slovakia. It was third time we took part in this pretty young competition.
Three cars safely brought 11 competitors to our weekend destination slightly after 6 P.M. . H

otel was near to city center so after weighing we took a walk....which ended in McDonald, of course by accident. Friendly chat drinking Kofola (really!) in hotel bar was great to calm our nerves and have good sleep after.

Few information about this event: only patterns and sparring were scheduled, sparring from green stripes and possibility to compete in higher age or weight category. Taekwon-do schools from Slovakia, Czech republic and Hungary took part.

We had to get up early (7:30 AM leaving hotel!), just after reaching hall we changed to toboks and started some easy stretches.
Sonkal members had different roles - Ondra was referee, but also helped us when not so busy, 11 people competed, me (René Čapek) took part only in patterns competition and then changed to suit and become referee as well, Vláďa also took part in patterns and then become coach (together with Mr. Novák...one of "our" parents).

Competition itself started at 9 AM. Patterns first, we got plenty of medals, nearly each of us got one, except Vláďa, but he said that he will win next competition (National championship) :-D . One hour break for lunch and then sport sparring. First category was up to 78 kg where Tomáš Vodička competed. And he won and also won his normal category (lower one).
Veronika Žilinská tried to compete in sparring for the first time and she had to fight her sister Tereza. It was final so both medals stayed in family. And more experienced Tereza won. Also my brother Michal Čapek (green belt) competed in sparring for the first time and did exceptionally well, he defeated much higher 1.kup holder and then lost in final with black belt from Hungary, it was nice fight, we did not know who will win till the end. I did not have time to see other friends, but I am sure they did well (again lot of medal successes).

We have lucky day this time, three the most successful competitor titles for Tomáš Vodička (senior), Tereza Žilinská (juniors) and Jiří Novák (kids).

And last but not least we did well enough to be the most successful school of tournament, despite of fact that we brought only 11 competitors (some schools brought 4 times bigger team).

I believe that everyone enjoyed this tournament and that we will take part in it again next year.

And.....to celebrate we enjoyed KFC on our way home :-)
