Colour belts at National competition

On Saturday the 12th of May the sports hall of Nymburk held the Czech Championship of colour belts. This competition was quite different to me as well as to many competitors than usual. It was my first t
ime that I held the post of a coach instead of a competitor.

First novelty was contest of white belts and yellow stripes at Saju Jirugi and Saju Magki. Another one was that special techniques and power breaking were only under the rules of colour belts so contestants did not have to worry about spinning kicks. I do not remember more novelties but those two were the most interesting.

Saturday morning began with categories of pupils and seniors. Among them our contestants showed great performances. It was a pleasure to watch the joy and feeling of happiness among our youngest competitors after their winning match. Two of our senior representatives, Yegor Popov and Kateřina Vítečková, gained the title of the most successful contestant. Saturday competition ended very early, about two o´clock. Then we had free time until Sunday. For the first time I was a bit disappointed for we could be back home on Sunday. But later it was great because we enjoyed the afternoon with people we had not seen for a long time. The free time did us good.

On Sunday morning the junior competition began. The performances were really even and we saw many awesome matches. Again we could see the vigour and desire among junior contestants keen on seizing a point instead of thinking and acting tactically. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with their performances. Our colours were represented by Jan Veškrna who became the most successful younger junior.

It was great achievement to gain the title of the most successful school awarded with 15 golden medals, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
